    your first quote brings up some interesting points:

    Why is it that we see all this research which discusses the importance of these early childhood years, the quality of education that should be provided, among other things... yet teachers are paid so poorly. These individuals have such an important job, and I feel it is so important to recognize not only the importance of their work, but the qualities and skills they should possess, and the appropriate salary to compensate for the work. I can imagine how much of a disincentive it would be to work so hard and be paid so little...
